Forklift battery charger rectifier 80V Discover the professional range of 80V chargers and rectifiers for forklift batteries, designed for intensive logistics applications, distribution centers, industrial parks and handling equipment fleets. The available models – PB ACID 80V 40AH, 100AH, 120AH and 140AH – cover a wide capacity range and are compatible with most warehouse equipment. The UTEC offer includes 230V and 3x400V chargers, intelligent charging systems controlled by microprocessor, advanced protection functions and charging curves in accordance with DIN standards.

Using Energic Plus technology, these devices provide stable, efficient and protected charging, contributing to longer battery life and reduced operating costs. The official documentation shows that the 80V rectifiers are designed for lead-acid batteries, using Wa and WSa/WSa-Pulse charging curves, optimized for ambient temperature, electrolyte temperature and gassing voltage, ensuring correct, balanced and safe charging.

Main features of 80V PB ACID chargers

The 80V range models are equipped with advanced AC/DC conversion technology, integrated microprocessor, hardware and software protection systems and the possibility to adjust the AC input voltage to optimize the charging curve. According to the Energic Plus technical presentation, these devices are the result of over 40 years of experience in industrial battery charging and are built in accordance with modern safety and energy efficiency standards.

  • Microprocessor-controlled charging – keeps voltage, current and charging time within the battery profile.
  • Compatibility with flooded lead-acid batteries (Pb-acid) – optimized for flooded batteries, widely used in electric forklifts.
  • Wa and WSa/WSa-Pulse charging curves – compliant with DIN 41774, ensuring safe and uniform charging.
  • Automatic equalization mode – additional controlled pulses for cell balancing.
  • Automatic error detection – intelligent monitoring of parameters and LED signaling.
  • Thermal protection – the charger reduces current and adjusts its profile to avoid battery overheating.
  • Protection against reverse polarity, short circuit, overvoltage and fan failure.
  • AC adjustment – optimizing AC input voltage compensates for mains fluctuations.

Available models: 40AH, 100AH, 120AH, 140AH

The complete range covers chargers for batteries between 190Ah and 1050Ah, capable of supplying both compact electric forklifts and high-capacity warehouse equipment. The overview below presents the commercial key specifications, while the Energic Plus technical documentation provides additional details on dimensions, operating temperature, ventilation and duty cycles.

Model 80V 40AH (230VAC)

  • Recommended battery capacity: 190–310Ah
  • 230V input current: 26.1A
  • Typical use: electric pallet trucks, stackers, light-duty 80V equipment with smaller batteries

Model 80V 100AH (3x400V / 50Hz)

  • Recommended battery capacity: 480–750Ah
  • 400V input current: 17A
  • Applications: electric forklifts 1.6–2.5 tonnes

Model 80V 120AH (3x400V / 50Hz)

  • Recommended capacity: 600–900Ah
  • 400V input current: 20.4A
  • For intensive-use fleets – recommended for multi-shift applications

Model 80V 140AH (3x400V / 50Hz)

  • Recommended capacity: 900–1050Ah
  • 400V input current: 23.9A
  • Compatibility: electric forklifts 3–5 tonnes, heavy-duty reach trucks

Advanced charging technology – Wa, WSa and WSa-Pulse curves

The official Energic Plus manual explains in detail how the Wa curve works, used for flooded lead-acid batteries, and the WSa / WSa-Pulse curves, used in applications where lower electrolyte temperature and optimized charging times are required. According to the documentation, a standard cycle has three main phases:

  1. Bulk charging phase – the charger delivers a high current, strictly controlled by the microprocessor. The battery is below the gassing point (below approx. 2.40V/cell) and absorbs energy intensively. The current is maintained at a high value until the voltage reaches the gassing threshold.
  2. Absorption phase – the voltage rises above the gassing point, the electrolyte starts to gas and the charger reduces the current to prevent overheating. The microprocessor adjusts the charging current in real time and finishes the cycle when it detects SOC = 100%.
  3. Equalisation phase – if the battery remains connected for enough hours (often over the weekend), the charger applies controlled low-current pulses to bring all cells to the same state of charge. This function increases battery life and reduces cell sulphation.

Models with the WSa-Pulse curve introduce alternating periods of current pulses and zero current, reducing electrolyte heating – a major advantage for intensive warehouse applications. The charging graphs in the technical documentation clearly show these differences, highlighting the superior performance of pulsed curves, especially for large batteries (over 600Ah) used in heavy-duty forklifts.

Smart control system – RGB LED, alarms and programmable parameters

The control panel of the PB ACID 80V chargers includes an advanced multi-colour LED system, warning signals and alarms that identify any anomaly. According to the manual:

  • Red LED – warnings and alarms (overvoltage, high temperature, wrong AC input, hot disconnection, etc.)
  • Green LED – charging successfully completed
  • Blue LED – equalisation in progress
  • White LED – pause periods in WSa/WSa-Pulse curves

Programmable parameters include gassing voltage, maximum voltage, charging mode and equalisation mode – all crucial for optimizing each specific battery type. The technical manual details how to access the user menu and how to save the programmed values.

Safety and protection – Industrial standard

The 80V rectifiers are built in accordance with safety regulations for industrial electrical equipment. The documentation lists numerous mandatory precautions: protection from moisture, avoidance of sparks, proper ventilation, operation only in dry environments, avoiding accidental contact with battery terminals and ensuring that the operator does not wear metal objects while connecting the battery.

The documentation also specifies temperature limits between -5°C and +50°C for operation and between -20°C and +60°C for storage, as well as the importance of charger ventilation to prevent overheating.
