In recent years, telescopic forklifts have evolved rapidly, moving from simple mechanical solutions to complex machines equipped with ergonomic joysticks, automatic stabilization systems, and telematics platforms for remote monitoring.
In the UTEC offer, these technologies can be found both on well-equipped SH telescopic forklift models and on newly added equipment, giving customers access to performance and safety at a level comparable to that of new machines.
The introduction of multifunctional joysticks has radically changed the way telescopic forklifts are operated. In the past, operators used several mechanical levers for each movement, but since the 2000s ergonomic controls have appeared that combine boom extension, lifting, and fork manipulation in a single control.
A general joystick allows the operator to execute several commands simultaneously, for example raising the boom while extending it, which shortens operation time. Depending on the configuration, a dedicated joystick can activate specific functions such as superstructure rotation, winch operation, or fine control of fork tilt. In practice, this means more fluid operation, greater precision, and less physical effort for the operator.
Manitou was one of the pioneers, launching combined-function joysticks that made work faster and more precise. In UTEC’s SH stock you can find the Manitou MT 933 Easy, manufactured in 2020, a telescopic forklift SH with 3.3 tons capacity and 9 meters lifting height, equipped with an ergonomic joystick and automatic transmission.
JCB raised the industry standard with solutions such as the “Single Lever Servo Control,” which became a benchmark for telehandlers. The continuous evolution of the range is illustrated in UTEC’s stock by the JCB TLT 30-19 D, produced in 2021, a compact machine equipped with a modern joystick and precise hydraulic control, suitable for tight spaces and quick handling.
Later, major international manufacturers standardized proportional joysticks as standard equipment. Today, even SH models available at UTEC integrate this type of intuitive control, which means higher productivity, less operator fatigue, and a working experience closer to that of new machines.
The telescopic forklift is used for lifting and handling loads at height and distance, which makes its stability at risk.
In UTEC’s SH stock you can find Merlo Roto 40.18 S, manufactured in 2014, equipped with the Dynamic Load Control system, which automatically limits boom movements when stability decreases. This makes it suitable for complex work at height.
JCB moved in this direction with the “Adaptive Load Control” system, introduced a few years later. In the UTEC offer, JCB TLT 30-19 D illustrates the compact range, where stability is ensured by robust design and precise hydraulic control, even if it does not include the latest electronic modules.
JLG 4014 PS, manufactured in 2016 and available as a telescopic forklift SH, offers an example of a solid machine with load warning systems and mechanical limiters, reliable for large construction sites.
From the more recent generations, Manitou MT 933 Easy brings extra safety by integrating hydraulic functions and automatic transmission, providing clear warnings when the machine approaches stability limits.
At the highest level of technology is the Zoomlion ZTH 4018, manufactured in 2025 and newly added to UTEC’s stock. This model integrates full electronic monitoring on a color display and digitally controlled stabilization systems.

Fleet management has become easier thanks to telematics – the technology that allows remote monitoring of the telescopic forklift.
Through a connectivity module and integrated sensors, managers can see in real time the fuel consumption, operating hours, machine location, or possible maintenance alerts. This solution increases machine availability, reduces unexpected costs, and helps schedule maintenance efficiently.
In UTEC’s SH stock, the Merlo Roto 40.18 S, manufactured in 2014, was available with optional remote monitoring functions, in addition to Dynamic Load Control.
More recent models, such as the Manitou MT 933 Easy, manufactured in 2020, are compatible with telematics modules that transmit real-time data on machine status, making them useful for companies managing multiple units.
Another example is the JCB TLT 30-19 D, available as a telescopic forklift SH, which can be connected to the JCB Livelink platform, offering consumption reports and automatic service alerts.
The JLG 4014 PS, manufactured in 2016, is also available in UTEC’s SH stock. This model illustrates the stage when telematics was still optional but had the necessary infrastructure for integration.
At the most modern level is the Zoomlion ZTH 4018, manufactured in 2025. This newly added machine in UTEC’s stock is equipped with a 10.1-inch color display, full connectivity, and the possibility of remote software updates.
Modern technologies on telescopic forklifts bring direct advantages for operators and companies.
Multifunctional joysticks reduce working time through intuitive commands and simultaneous movements. On construction sites, the Manitou MT 933 Easy allows fast handling of pallets and materials from the ground to upper floors, with less effort for the operator.
Automatic stabilization systems increase safety when the boom is extended at height. In infrastructure works or on uneven terrain, the Merlo Roto 40.18 S offers additional protection through Dynamic Load Control, reducing the risk of accidents and optimizing use of the rotating boom.
Telematics and connectivity simplify fleet management. A telescopic forklift SH such as the JCB TLT 30-19 D can be connected to the Livelink platform, which means that the fleet manager receives automatic alerts for maintenance and can monitor consumption in real time.
In industrial environments where reliability has priority, the JLG 4014 PS remains a solid machine, with a robust structure and options for later integra
